(Manchurian Candidate, Conspiracy Theory, and Zoolander)
Propaganda forms the way people think about JFK - and everything else for that matter. Try to say something good about JFK or one of his policies and - bet your bottom dollar - Marilyn Monroe's name will come up. It's almost as if an entire continent of people have been brainwashed to respond in the same way. It's like something out of the movie Manchurian Candidate wherein American soldiers fighting in North Korea are captured by Chinese and Russian Communsits, brainwashed into becoming mind-controlled assassins, and then let go. In the future, when they hear the name "Raymond Shaw" they automatically respond: "Raymond Shaw is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I've ever known".
But if you haven't seen Manchurian Candidate you won't get the meaning. Watching that movie was an eye-opener for me. Until that time I had never heard of governments brainwashing soldiers into committing murder upon hearing a certain trigger word - but that's what this movie was all about. And it had spookingly prophetic similarities to JFK's assassination, which followed a year after the release of the movie. After 1963 it was taken out of circulation and wasn't released again until 1988.
Another spooky thing about the movie is that the person who directed it, John Frankenheimer, was a media consultant to JFK during his electoral campaigns as well as a personal friend of Robert Kennedy. Bobby slept the last night of his life, June 4th, 1968, at Frankenheimer's house just north of Los Angeles. It was Frankenheimer who drove Bobby to the Ambassador Hotel. And there -- just like in Manchurian Candidate -- a real-life Raymond was mind-controlled to shoot.
THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE is a must-see movie. It is very high drama with complete character development and spine-tingling suspense. Two recent movies - Conspiracy Theory and Zoolander - ALSO focus on mind-controlled assassins as their main characters. They make light of the fact that governments and corporations traumatize innocent victims into becoming brainwashed killers. They aren't at all subtle. They have Orwellian O'Brien characters who - like Winston - get filled in on all the details of how the puppet-masters do their manipulation.
However, they smoke-screen their message by portraying the brainwashed characters as paranoid or idiotic. In this way they desensitize the audience to the reality of what is being portrayed. These movies turn horrific themes into fodder for laughs. They get big name players to do it too. In Manchurian Candidate they used Frank Sinatra, and in these latest movies it's Mel Gibson, Ben Stiller and a cast of high-profile actors from the Star Trek, Seinfeld, and X-Files series, to name a few.
Anyway, I'm not here to re-invent the wheel, or to explain everything that happened in each movie. But with all the talk in the news these days about seemingly normal people doing incredibly abnormal acts - and so-called suicide bombers attacking people and places - I think it's a good time to point out the "brainwashed assassin" themes of some of Hollywood's recent productions. No doubt there are others that I've missed, but this should give the general idea. I've already discussed Manchurian Candidate (above) and for greater understanding I suggest people rent it themselves and arrive at their own conclusions.
By way of discussing the other two movies - CONSPIRACY THEORY and ZOOLANDER - I'm excerpting a couple of dialogues from each and letting the reader draw their own conclusions about mind-controlled killers. These movies seem to be flaunting it.

CANADA SAYS KOREA POWs "CHOSE" TO LIVE IN CHINA: I caught the following documentary on CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation aka Communist or Chinese BC) on TV last night - Monday, Apr 8, 2008 - and was sickened by the nauseating pro-Red China spin about it - making it sound as though the American POWs (Prisoners of War) were "dissidents" from America, disillusioned with waging war on Chinese and had thereby "chosen" to stay in North Korea or, better yet, "chosen" to be taken to China to live. The film admits the USA soldiers were brainwashed but portrays it as a pleasant experience playing Olympic-like sports competitions in a prisoner-of-war camp and falling in love with the Communist Chinese way of life - even having a black soldier marry a Chinese woman while portraying America as a place prejudiced against blacks (except to go fight wars). The next day I looked up the program on the CBC website and found their write-up. I noticed that - surprise, surprise - the film was directed by a person of the Chinese race, ie Shui-Bo Wang. An Englishman with a French name, George Du Maurier (1834-1896), wrote his last and most famous novel, Trilby, about hypnocontrol. It was the first "best seller". Du Maurier got the idea for his tale of Svengali's cruel domination of his hapless hypnotic subject from viewing a demonstration of a subject’s complete, amnesic dissociation in a hypnotist's office. In the late 19th century, both natural split personalities and artificial personality splitting (by suggested amnesia under hypnosis) were hot new items in psychological research....

In Richard Condon’s famous 1959 novel The Manchurian Candidate, the plot centers around a man who was programmed under hypnosis to assassinate the president of the United States. The man was not aware that he had been programmed.
