Editorial Reviews
Review
"This isn't a book, it is a prophecy!" Bob Gresh, Author, Moody Press. "Intoxicated with Babylon is a call to each of us, and to the Evangelical Church. It is a 'wake-up call' . . . a very loud one that cannot be ignored. You will either respond and get out of 'bed' immediately, or you will hit the 'snooze button' and go back to sleep. It is a clear choice leading to the opportunity for repentance and serious faith in Christ. Those who hit the 'snooze button' will prove Steve Gallagher's thesis that the Church in America has drifted far from the mark. The choice is clear--sleep or awaken!. "Those who are awakened and alert to this opportunity to repent and follow Christ will want to radically examine and change how they are living their life. They will also want to share this wake-up call with others who may have also been lulled into a nap by the forces of this world. I am glad I had an opportunity to respond to the alarm." Jim Sheard, Author, In His Grip.

Babylon is a system designed to lull the unsuspecting into a false sense of peace with God by hypnotizing its victims into a mind diminishing stupor. The urge to possess or experience the things of this world can be so overwhelmingly powerful that it chokes out the desire for truth. The enemy glamorizes the satisfactions which our lusts crave, causing us to bounce from one lie to the next, constantly seeking to fulfill an illusion that never materializes. As a believer, we need to become aware of the appeal the world has, because the more you indulge in its lusts the more corrupt we become and our love for God will dissipate into a mere facade. This book will heighten your awareness of the pull that this world's system has to lure you away from a genuine relationship with God.

This is not the subject typical of popular best sellers but this book should be read by everyone in the church. It contains not condemnation but rather clearly spoken conviction. You may not agree with every detail he sets forth. But the overall message is one deeply rooted and grounded in the word of God.
If you are looking for more leverage in your life towards prayer, devotion to God, and righteous living then this book is for you. I would also encourage each reader to personally pray the prayers written at the end of each of the 15 chapters.

This book is extremely hard to read. I made it through two chapters and gave up. The book lacks a logical flow. It contains so many references within the text it is unreadable. It is similar to reading a cookbook. I also think the book theme does not represent the book material.

Book review...
I was recommended this book by a friend so I decided to get it. The first 2/3s of the book is really good. It basically gives a rebuke to christians who are still living in this world, engaging in sin everyday and not doing what pleases the Father. It hits on what Holiness is, being set apart from the world. Then it lost its way. It almost seemed like another person wrote the last third and/or the author didn't really know where to go or what to suggest in regards to holy living. He did hit on NOT watching TV and to not get counseling from psychologists. I agree however there is so much in God's word that we can do but the author missed out on a lot. The bible states the Sabbath is for everyone. Even Jesus said 'the sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath" ref. If you look up the word 'man' it does not mean 'Jew' but anthropos meaning all mankind. We even see the sabbath being observed in the New Millennium by both gentile believers and Jewish believers. With that said my family and I observe the Sabbath and the feasts of the Lord. These things also set us apart from the world and should have been considered or presented in the book. However I know the author would not because I have not seen anything of his that supports the sabbath and other parts of God's word that applies to everyone.
For those christians who say the sabbath and feasts of the Lord was done away with I recommend checking out http://www.graceloveobey.com for a look at the whole counsel of God about the Sabbath and other things. BTW the sabbath is NOT about going to church on saturday (and I'm not condoning SDA). This is just getting back to God and His word.

One of the best on how to overcome life dominating sins.
Gives excellent truth on how the world can be intoxicating to the point of making us oblivious to God's
Truth and steals our life in Christ because we choose to be intoxicated instead of being sober minded.

In a day when men’s ears are itching for easy teachings, cheap grace, and how to live their best life now, this work will cut deep and change your life if you’re hungry for Him. For most Christians, this change will be a matter of life or death...no exaggeration.

This is an excellent book, a wake up call for God's people. I have read this book a couple times and everytime I read it, I am challenged to examine my thoughts, actions and motives to see if they line up with the Word of God. If your desire is for a closer walk with God, this book can help as it reveals distractions and traps the Adversary uses to keep us in the worlds system.
