The Bible is the most amazing book in all of history. It took around 1600 years to finish and has 40 writers who all knew that it was not by their wisdom they wrote this book. They like Paul wrote in 2 Timothy chapter 3 that it was all inspired by the Spirit of God literally 'GOD BREATHED'
We have the Old Testament written in Hebrew
We have the New Testament written mostly in Greek with a little Aramaic
The Word of God was
INSPIRED / GOD BREATHED
PRESERVED AND PROTECTED
PRESERVED AND TRANSLATED
AND TO THIS DAY
ILLUMINATED AND PERPETUATED
ALL BY THE SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD
HEBREWS 4:12 TELLS US
''For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.''
2 TIMOTHY 3:15-17 SAYS
''and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.''
1 CORINTHIANS 2 SAYS
''but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.''
The above three passages tell us that the Word of God is alive/living and very powerful. That it is the voice of God , a revelation of God and was given by to us by the work of the Spirit of God.
This is the Word that you now know and are digging into. God has given us so much and seeks to get us into His word.
THE WORD OF GOD IS
Lets look at some of what the Word of God is
It is the Voice of God living and speaking (very words of God)
It is the language of the Holy Spirit in written form
It is the Word of Faith that enables a person to believe on Jesus
It is the Word of Life that offers new life now and eternal life in Christ.
It is the Word of Grace that reveals a salvation by grace.
It is the Gospel/Word written for people to get saved.
It is the Sword of the Spirit used in spiritual warfare
THE WORD OF GOD DOES
Reveals the person and Character of God John Chapter one
Reveals the Savior Jesus Christ and way of salvation John 3
Gives direction and comfort Romans Psalm 119
It will teach you and make you wise Proverbs all of it
It will make you strong 1 John 2:14
It brings you blessing James 1
It will help you over come the world The book of 1 John
the flesh
and the devil
